I love Dr. S. I loved watching the cartoon growing up every Christmas season. This movie is the only movie that I have ever walked out of. Jim C. was over the top, annoying, and just plain creepy. I really think he was trying too hard. I think if I would have stayed, the acting would have made me violently ill.

To be honest, the first time I watched this movie - it was not what I expected. The second time I watched it, and REALLY watched it well....I fell in love. The visuals are amazing...and Jim Carrey was born to play the Grinch. Who else could have done that? Nobody on this earth. Cindy Lou Who - cute, thoughtful, great job! This has become one of my Christmas classics, and I think everyone did a terrific job. THANK YOU Ron Howard for making this movie for my whole family to enjoy!

Though it's not quite like the classic cartoon version that we all know and love, it's still something I want to watch every year around Christmas. Jim Carrey made it very funny, and though there were a couple of more adult jokes/references, it is still good for people of all ages to fall in love with. This movie stuck to the original storyline and morals quite well, while at the same time adding humorous lines and twists to make it interesting, instead of just making a non-animated version of the cartoon. Also, it had more details (such as telling why the Grinch became the way he was) and characters to give it greater depth than its predecessor. Lastly, the scenery was absolutely beautiful; I want to be a Who just to be able to look at that every day. Speaking of visual effects, the introduction of going into the snowflake was genius and really set the movie off well. Overall, this is definitely one you have to see.

Unfortunately it didn't quite catch the magic of the animated version of it. That was special in alot of ways. This was good but seemed to just not have it going. As the first live-action movie to be based on a Dr. Seuss book, The Grinch makes a good start. Jim Carrey as the Grinch, Jeffery Tambor as the mayor of Who-Ville, and Taylor Momsen as Cindy Lou-Who are some of the right actors they chose for the right roles. They have some added features that weren't in the book, but remember that if they had not put any in, the movie would have been around twelve minutes long. The story is about a city on a snowflake called Who-Ville. The Grinch lives above it on a mountain, and really cannot stand anything about the Whos (they abandonned him when he was young), but he especially hates Christmas. He tries every way to get rid of Christmas, but his ways never work. Then the Grinch comes up with a Dr. Seussy way to get rid of Christmas- steal it. He dresses as Santa Claus and steals all of the trees, presents, and decorations of Who-Ville. But in the end, the Grinch finds out that this isn't what Christmas is about. The movie suceeds in keeping the Christmas spirit, Dr. Seuss' story, and the Grinch's sneaky grin behind it all. This movie is slick, humorous, and lovable. My favorite part is when the tiny-hearted Grinch thinks that there is going to be Christmas and he comes to take it all the way. Not completely. You just never know what will happen when you cast Jim Carrey as the main charactor but you can almost always be sure that it will be funny. This tale based on Dr. Seuss' How The grinch Stole Christmas contains some new twists and turns that add a little more darkness to the grinch but Carrey really hits this nail right on the head. It was very difficult for Jim to wear these costumes as they really did cause him pain like the contact lenses he had to wear to make the grinch's eyes come alive. With all those obstacles with his costume, he still deliveres a near flawless performance and steals the show again. This is destined to be a classic and definately worth the rental, or, better yet, buy the movie and add it to your collection. This is Carrey at his zany best, but he can really act too and he really does an excellent job here. Go get it now!!

This was really good. I watched this movie before I seen 'The Cat in the Hat', which was also a very good movie. Jim Carrey delievers really big laughs, and I just can't get enough of Dr. Suess' work now. I went downstairs and read all his books which are, weird yet, fulfilling. I think that Christmas, will be a in a different point of view for me. This movie teachs you that Christmas, just isn't about presents, but for each other, family, and friends. In my opinion, Dr. Suess greatest story ever told goes to the big screen. Who would of thought it would be such a success!! Inside a snowflake, like the one on your sleeve - There lies the greatest fictional Christmas story to be re-created as an outstanding film. Whoville, were everyone loves Christmas. Except the Grinch (Jim Carrey) who hates Christmas, partly due to a bad childhood experience. But with the help of Cindy Lou Who, she can discover what Christmas is really about and bring everyone together for this special holiday, including the Grinch. If you haven't already figured it out, I really like this film. Its something special and has a warm story to it. Hats off to Jeffrey Price who turned a short story into a magical hour and a half long movie. The direction was amazing and Ron Howard knew this film could be something memorable, allot of his family had roles in it and he dedicated it to his mom. I don't think The Cat in The Hat will beat this film. This is my favourite film that stared Jim Carrey, It looked like he enjoyed himself making it to. The scenery has some of the best I've seen and the graphics were good, but noticeable. Defiantly the best makeup I have seen too. It really looked like skin! The music wasn't bad. The score wasn't really memorable but Faith Hill's theme was amazing. Bad Points? Well Clint and Jeremy Howard can't act to put it bluntly and more jokes could of been added. All in all a 9.6 out of 10. Acting 8 - Story 10 - Direction 9 - Music 8 - Overall 9 Go get this for your kids, NOW!
